About the product

Flor de Cana's V Generaciones 30yo is a masterpiece. This rum pays tribute to the 135 years of family history and the five generations that have made this rum one of the absolute references worldwide. This rum was bottled from a single cask aged for 30 years at the foot of an active volcano. This gave it a special and unique flavour.

A rum with this status deserves a beautiful presentation. For instance, on the cork you will find a piece of real volcanic stone, which immediately makes you feel that this rum comes from a place that is not ordinary. Inside the beautiful black leather packaging, you will find the signatures of five generations of rum makers and a replica of a 1902 stamp depicting the volcano. The style is minimalist and is finished with a fine metal label and a certificate of authenticity.

The bottle exudes luxury, but the rum itself does even more so. It starts with the colour, dark amber that immediately draws you in. the nose offers warm ripe fruit with fresh notes of orange and mint. The warmth and depth comes from the oak, with a very pleasant spiciness. On the palate, you'll find a sophisticated palette of ripe red fruit that slowly gives way to darker fruits like plum, with burnt sugar, orange, maraschino cherry and dark chocolate as figurative icing on the cake.

This rum is particularly limited with only 650 bottles worldwide.

About the brand

With its rums, Flor de Cana tells the story of 135 years of history and five generations building on the same dream. In 1875, 25-year-old Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa leaves Genoa for an adventure. He risks everything to build something in exotic Nicaragua. He got to know that country as a child, and it had been in his dreams ever since. The adventure began when he built a shorter and safer route for steamboats through Nicaragua; that way transportation of people and goods from the US East Coast to the West could be smoother, an important matter during those days of gold rush in California. When the Panama Canal came, Alfredo looked for a new opportunity and in 1890 he found the perfect spot at the foot of San Crisobal, Nicaragua's largest active volcano. There he would build a distillery that would go on to make one of the most refined rums in the world. The terroir there was perfect: volcanic and fertile and with a unique tropical climate.

135 years later, flor de Cana is still the passion and vision of the same family. Many events could have ended this story (civil war, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, fires and hurricanes), but the family persevered. This is exceptional, as only 3 in 10,000 family businesses make it to the fifth generation. So they are rightly extremely proud of that!
