About the product

The Dalmore 21yo is a whisky that exudes luxury. Its beautifully dark colour already suggests the best in terms of cask influence, and this is fully confirmed in the flavour. This whisky begins its life in a combination of white American oak bourbon casks and first fill sherry casks. As the bottling date slowly approaches, it is transferred to beautiful, Oloroso Sherry casks, which previously held 30-year-old Matusalem sherry. The use of these types of old, fully sherry-soaked casks has become rare in the Scotch whisky industry, and you taste its influence immediately. These casks are hand-selected by Dalmore from the maturing cellars of the world-renowned Gonzalez Byass bodega in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain.

The tasting experience is a real voyage of discovery. On the nose, the whisky opens up with bitter black chocolate, ripe Seville oranges, Colombian coffee and apple with toffee. The flavour on the palate moves towards liquorice, Black Forest fruits, toasted walnut and marzipan. The finish is another dimension further, with ginseng, tarte tatin of pear and sanguinello blood orange.

About the brand

Dalmore's bottles immediately stand out in your whisky cabinet. They are adorned with a beautiful silver deer head, with impressive twelve-pointed antlers. This so-called ‘twelve-point stag’ is not on there for no reason, this is a very important symbol of the Scottish kings. The fact that Dalmore is allowed to wear this symbol is quite an honour bestowed on them in 1263. That's when one of the ancestors of the founder of Dalmore Distillery, a member of the Campbell clan, saved the then Scottish king Alexander's life during a hunting party. In gratitude, they were given the honour of carrying the deer's head with the 12-pointed antlers in the coat of arms. So don't just say Deer to a Twelve-Point-Stag in Scotland!

The distillery itself was founded in 1839 in the village of Alness. It now belongs to the Whyte & Mackay group, which also operates Jura, Fettercairn and Tamnavulin, among others. Dalmore is known as a luxurious dram, with a rich flavour. The frequent use of high-quality sherry casks is no stranger to this flavour profile. Audience favourites in the range include the 12yo (the base) the Cigar Malt Reserve and the King Alexander III.

With a bottle of Dalmore, you immediately show that you know what you're doing when it comes to whisky, and that you don't compromise when it comes to taste.
